Act!onHeat project has now concluded.
The project sought to accelerate the use of strategic heating and cooling planning in cities and regions throughout Europe. It identified the success factors of strong and efficient existing Heating and cooling plans, developed a workflow for strategic H&C planning based on existing open source tools, produced a Local Replication Roadmap and put together 21 actionable recommendations on planning, implementation, financing and policy. The project culminated in a final conference: "Make your Digital Sprint in Heating and Cooling" in Brussels in November 2024, in which experts, policymakers, and practitioners in the energy sector met to learn about the output of the project, as well as to share their knowledge, collaborate and network.
Act!onHeat engaged local governments and supported:
- 120 municipalities that had started, continued or improved strategic heating and cooling planning, encouraged by support packages.
- 30 pre-feasibility studies carried out for individual projects within the municipalities. Encouraged by support packages and advice.
- 15 projects for which financing options are being developed
